How to Use the Volleyball Drill Deck
Practices feeling a little tired? The Volleyball Drill Deck is your new go-to tool for adding variety, focus, and fun to every training session. With 52 playing card–sized drill cards, you’ll have a full season of inspiration right in your pocket!
Each of the 52 cards features a simple, effective drill with setup instructions, scoring, variations, and a QR code you can scan to watch a video demonstration of the drill. We recommend taking a moment to familiarize yourself with the drills before practice so you can jump right in!
Drills are grouped into seven color-coded categories that can be used for team training:
- Warmup
- Ball Control
- Serving & Passing
- Setting
- Attacking
- Defense & Blocking
- 6v6
Every Drill Deck comes with:
- 52 drill cards
- 1 wild card
- 1 instruction card
- 1 durable two-piece plastic storage box
Ideas for how to use the deck:
- Random selection: Let a player draw a card from the full deck
- Category focus: Choose drills from a specific category to target key skills
- Winner’s choice: The winning team of the previous drill selects the next card
- Coach’s pick: Select a drill in advance to fit your practice needs
Mix it up, keep it fun, and challenge your team!

We’ve used the deck a few times in practice now – my players are starting to get excited when we bring it out! I think they like that they get to be “in control” instead of the coaches when picking the next drill. The drills we’ve tried so far have been simple enough to set up and run. I did look through the deck on my own before using it in practice so I was somewhat familiar with the different drills. Overall it’s a pretty fun tool to help us inject a little fun and excitement into practice. Thanks!

Fun tool. My players seem to get a little more motivated to win a drill when they know they’ll win the chance to “choose” the next drill. The surprise element is a nice add to help practice feel exciting.
